Xantia Front Suspension Hose

I`ve just bought a 94 Xantia TD, after checking her over. I see there is a hose from the calliper which has split and wrapped in electrical tape (I assume by previous owner). Its the upper most hose looking from the wheel. Is this the Handbrake cable, or the brake line? If it’s the brake line I’m surprised it passed its MOT a couple of months ago.

Hi Karl,
It is probably the handbrake cable. I recently changed the cable in my Xantia (messy job). The cable runs through a guide on top of the calliper and both mine had snapped exactly there. I guess the tape has been put there in an attempt to avoid ingress of moisture.
