2003 Scenic wont lock or start

Im hoping somebody can shed some light on my problem. My 2003 Renault Scenic 1.4 has been great for years and recently passed its MOT however yesterday i went to get into the vehicle and as usual i pressed the key and the central locking worked and it opened fine. I then tried to start the car and there was nothing, it did not even turn over, all the lights on the dash started to flicker and made a slight ticking noise. I then tried to lock the car and the central locking would not work. Has anybody got any ideas please. I have tried both keys I have for the vehicle and still no joy, i have tested the battery and thats fine, I have also tried to jump start it and that wont work. thanks.

Sounds like a possible engine earth fault, or the starter motor has broken. You could put a jump lead from the battery negative terminal to the body,if it still wont go, try giving it a push, if it starts ok, i would suspect a defective starter.

Sounds like immobilizer issue. could be receiver just by internal mirror try key closer see if it opens or locks. check fuse for immobilizer.
