C5 rear struts clip

Post by john alexander »

Hi does anyone have a picture of the tool for fitting the wire clip that holds the gaiter on the rear suspension strut. I've used cable ties but would rather refit
the original . I've also just fitted an EGR blanking plate , what a difference it makes, best £3.80 I've ever spent . regards john

it should just be a double wire loop type clamp her is price and part No.
bit extortionate

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00005280T6 BOOT CLAMP 7.90 GBP 9.48 GBP 9.48 GBP

it does look like i described above on service citroen in which case it has a 7 or 8mm bolt to tighten in by,

if it seems different to this can you show a picy of what you have

I've just had a look at mine, the clip is still the wire type but it looks as though they've done away with the screw and it just clips over like the water hose clips.

Done to save a penny on the assembly line and a gram on the weight I'd say. No reason why any Jubilee type clip wouldnt do.

I'd be interested to know what advantages you gained from blanking off the EGR.

the reason i would not use a Jubilee i the original wire type one band goes each side of the vent/breather spouts on the boot,
and a jubilee clip would squeeze/block of these spouts at there base

Hi , I blanked off the EGR valve as the car was running rough at about 1100 / 1200 RPM . following advice on another forum I unplugged the valve . It ran as sweet as a nut but threw up a warning light on the dash . With the plate fitted and the valve plugged in again the car is smoother to drive , better MPG and I've just towed my caravan to Kendal from Livingston without a blip .
