Xantia Hydraulics

Post by allanmc »

Hi, This might seem like a daft question and has probably been asked and answered a few times, but here goes, in June I replaced the 6 Spheres on my HDI Xantia and filled the system with Hydraflush tomorrow I am going to drain and refill with LHM , my question is this, do I have to remove all the Spheres again or not, if someone can let me know ASAP that would be great .

No.
The Haynes manual covers it rather well.
Set the car on low, depressurise, turn engine off, turn steering wheel full left and right.
Remove the airbox and rubber elbow next to the reservoir.
Remove the filter and pipe unit from the reservoir, I keep it safe in a 2L coke bottle, cleaned, dried and the top cut off.
Remove the nuts at the back of the reservoir, use a long flat screwdriver or pry bar under the reservoir to pop it out of its hole (less chance of spillage than trying to yank it out)
Remove reservoir and empty, refit, fill with new LHM, check level is correct, bleed brakes as described in the sticky thread.
Have a cup of tea.

Im thinking about doing mine as well. MY fluid is a reddy brown coulor. Benn in there since i got it in may. must have done 5 k in it now it seems to go all right. Just slow going from low to normal driving hight. But thats only when i put it in low. And leave it for a bit.
Could i get away with just taking it out. And putting clean stuff in it. Or do i have to mess about bleeding it and flusgings it
Whats the differnce between the orange fluid. What goes in C5 s and the normal green lhm what
Would happern if i put the orange one it

You need to bleed the brakes.
