Doseur problem's again

Post by stewart_c »

Help!,there I was outside G.S.F. iN Glasgow having bought oil & a filter and was leaving when the STOP light came on again(3rd time in 4 weeks)so after a quick look under the bonnet the leak was obvious as it was dripping quite badly.
Back to G.S.F.for 2 litres of the green stuff & a dash home (missus was dissapointed ther would be no shopping[^])
The doseur was changed by a garage 3 weeks ago & it had to go back as the top rubber hose was leaking & I don't like paying for a job & then have to sort it myself, which brings me to my question,I had to take the bottom hose off of the valve as it was this one this time that had split.
I have run out of the green stuff so is it absoulutely necessary to bleed the brakes[?]because I have work to-morrow [V]and no chance of getting LHM till to-morrow.
I forgot to mention the obvious it's a Xantia TD[|)]

Rubber / plastic hoses on the doseur must by definition be outside the high pressure circuit and part of the low pressure return system. The pipes that need bleeding are the metal pipes to the wheel calipers as well as the supply pipes (which would bleed at the same time)

A three week old doseur vaslve doesn't return vast quantities of LHM unless it is A: fitted without thought for cleanliness or B not a new valve but a well cleaned up one or C faultily installed with the pedal bearing on it at all times which would lead to brake drag. Really it isn't your problem. Sling it back at the garage and point out to them that it is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE to send you out in an unroadworthy vehicle, 'cos it is. If your local trading standards department take an interest, so much the better but if the garage gets uncooperative, (non franchised or non specialist outfits pride themselves on their ignorance of Cits but will attempt to bull**** you until you run out of patience, after all you were stoopid enough to buy one of THEM so youn can't be all that bright...) then the trading standards' number on your mobile is usually good enough to get the garage to fix it or send it out to someone who can.

It was the bottom rubber tube that split this time just past the clip so I don't think the T/S would be that inerested but what I was trying to find out was if I had to bleed the brakes.
Ill find out later It's 0600 & im off to work (i hope)

Huh...my bleedin brake pedal has started vibrating since the car was tested a few weeks ago, I think the examiner tried to shove the pedal through the floor, its noticably worse on hot days so that ties in with something I read on here (I think) about the valve body expanding.
Probably the valve was about to croak on its own anyway and the examiner just shoved it over the edge with all that brute force.
Time to get the credit card revved up again dang nabbit.
