One of my headlight washers is missing and was told this could fail the MOT is this the case?? if so does anyone know how much a replacement would cost plus fitting? I've looked at the other side and it looks like the whole arm is missing
There was talk of xenon lights needing headlamp washers and be self leveling for the MOT. Not sure if it is the case yet, Google your best bet on that one.

It is the case and always has been the case, which is why most after market HID conversions are illegal.
The caps actuall form the "end stop" for the washer ram, without them the ram will retract too far into the bumper moulding with the result that the next time they are used the washer head fouls on the bumper as it comes out and sticks/ result no headlight wash. If you can be sure that the ram fully extends and sprays water on the headlight every time and it will do that on MOT day I can't see why it would fail.

Hint: these have very fragile on the clips. To remove covers, carefully prise the cover forwards with a blunt flat blade (knife NOT screwdriver) and as soon as they are about 20mm forward put a turn of cord around the main nozel unit. this is nozel unit is hardy so you can pull quite hapily then. To replace, carefully unclip covers from the bottom and hinge up and lift off (clip is very, very fragile). To replace pull main nozel forward with fingers and again put turn of cord around (don't wrap it, just a U of cord.) you can then hold nozle forward while you carefully fit the cover. Release it slowly back in with the cord then a gentle pull on the cord and it will slide out. (had to do it twice to change Xenons on mine as you can't get the bumper off with covers in place)

I lost both washer covers within 6 months of buying my C5. When I got replacements I put very small plastic zip ties on them to secure them in place. When I want to remove them I press the washer through the open window, get around the front before they finish spraying and grab hold of the stem. I then put a not-too-tight mole grip around the stem and gently ease the washer back until the grips are against the bumper.
I haven't just lost the end stop the whole arm is gone when the lights are on and I use the washer a jet of water shoots out about 3ft in front of the car can I just get a cap and disable the other side? There are plenty of beemers and audi's driving around without light washers and xenon lights how do they get around this?
First can I thank all those who have posted on other topics, about how to repair the washer bottle on the C5, That fault is now cured but it has created another. The driver side Headlight Washer Bumper Cover has fallen of and after seeing how much a new pair are, I am on the beg. does anyone have one in their bit box, I am willing to pay for it.
