Good news on the MOT front

Post by JohnD »

Just back from MOT with daughter's Xsara and a new ticket to go with it. Only one advisory which was for a misted headlamp. That's all four cars done for this year. But I would have been p*££ed off if the Xsara had failed because I've done a load of work on it during the past couple of months. New front pipe and cat, new heater motor, new rear discs and pads, four new filters, change of brake fluid and coolant, and a recon rear axle, and a couple of new tyres............................ Now regarding the misted headlamp. Is there a cure for it or is it a trip to the breakers?

Do you mean it has condensation inside it, or is the polycarbonate hazy?

Condensation is on the inside of the lamp.

Given the weather it's not surprising... At this rate we'll all need amphibious vehicles soon..

Anyway, great news on the MOT record for this year John =D>

I had this on a Ka years ago I just poped out the indicator bulb and left her running with full beams on for about half an hour sorted it out. this should work the same if you take the cover off the back and drive around when its dry with the lights on the heat from the bulbs should dry it out just remeber to refit the cover maybe clean and check the seal on it too

Removing the bulb & blasting in the lamp with a hairdryer usually does the trick aswell.

Thanks for those tips. I'll try it when it stops raining.
