Part number please, fuel pipe

Post by Jaf »

Hi guys. Just found a diesel leak on Fred. Can anyone give me a part number for the pipe please? It's inbetween the fuel tank and the wheel arch on the rear right hand side of the car. Also I can see where it joins in the wheel arch but the other end disappears up the side of the fuel tank, do I have to drop the fuel tank to get to it?

Thanks very much!

looking on service citroen the pipe inside the plastic sheath with fuel running from it in your picy and the other longer one,
here are price and part No's of both

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
96081603 DEGASSING TUBE 21.60 GBP 25.92 GBP 25.92 GBP

96140306 VENTING PIPE 13.13 GBP 15.76 GBP 15.76 GBP

the one in the sheath is 96140306,

they both seem to terminate on top of the tank next to the sender, and the other end of your leaky one terminatesatr the bottom of the filler neck

Thank you! You are a diamond. Dad reminded me that I've still got the old fuel tank so have had a look at the set up. Never easy!

cant you just cut out the leaky sectionand replace with a new length of fuel line, joining it with short lengths of metal/copper tube and pipe clips,

that is if the leaky bit is accessible

To be honest that's what I'm doing this evening as a temporary repair. New pipe arrives at Citroen Monday. Thanks again for the part number, there was 2 people looking on the computer and I'd taken the pipe from the old tank and they still couldn't find the right part number! Sigh.

I'm just concerned that as there's one tear the rest of the pipe won't be good either. The pipe off the old tank looks pretty good, very dirty as it's been in the garden. But for 14euros it's just not worth the risk. At least it's diesel and not scary fire-starting petrol!

maybe a tyre shop has jacked on the pipes, or someone has attempted to steel your fuel

Finally got the pipe changed. Had to wait for a relatively cooler day. Took a lot of wriggling and patience, didn't have to drop the tank in the end.

Looking at the old pipe the covering is heat shrink so we think when Citroen garage changed the tank they broke the pipe. Funnily enough I feel better about it now! At least the pipe didn't disintergrate or some thief's had a go at the car!

Thanks again! Lovely to have Fred going again.

OK so the pipe has gone again. In the same place so perhaps it's just a bad area for rocks. I used the old pipe off the old tank last time as when I got to Citroen the pipe they'd got in was wrong. I'm going to try them again but am not hopeful. The pipe is corregated plastic so I don't think it would seal against a bit of copper tubing. Perhaps heat shrink is the way to go.

By the way as the pipe is just a breather should it have much fuel coming out of it?

Thanks.
