Rear Brake problem

Post by KennyW »

Hi All,

Thoughts on the following problem;

The R/N/S Disc is not running true and it is showing when put on a rolling road.

New rear discs and pads fitted prior to MOT, new R/N/S wheel hub bearing fitted, but still above, swapped disc around and same problem.

Any thoughts

Was the problem still on the same side when you swapped the disc or did it move with it?

What do you mean by running true?? Is it at an angle, or is the disk now sitting too far out, the caliper its rubbing on the disk on the outside section of the caliper?

I had this on a late Xantia when I fitted an early rear bearing and hub (all as a complete thing) to the late car. When I eventually bought a brand new one, it was better but still catching the caliper slightly. In the end I made a spacer to bring the caliper outwards a bit so it didn't rub on the disc.. Very strange. To this Im saying I cant answer your question, only tell you what I did.

Thanks for your reply Malcolm, I noticed the 'wobble' when I spun the disc by hand.
Peter when discs were swapped over the problem was on the same side.So I concluded the discs were fine and not warped.

The only other factor which I will check again is the hub nut is torqued to the correct measurement. I will also check again on the rolling road.

It's a proverbial pain :(
