Evening all
Was hoping someone could advise me on how to fix the handbrake on our 207 1.6HDi 110 sport...
For the second time in as many weeks the handbrake is sticking on, and the handbrake lever itself appears to be doing nothing for the first two inches when pulled on (no friction as in normal use). The same thing happened a few weeks ago and a family member kindly freed the cable which had become rusted up at the business end (wheel). Would a new cable solve it?

Re: 207 sport handbrake (rear discs)
yes almost certainly it will, its definitely the easiest thing to try first,
make sure the levers on the calipers are coming fully of firstly with the hand brake off and secondly with the cable/s disconnected,
especial before adjusting the cables up on re/connecting them,
if not the mechanism in the caliper will not self adjust,

Top man Malcolm
Couple of related questions, is it a common problem? And is it something a novice like me can achieve?
Cheers

Re: 207 sport handbrake (rear discs)
Update... turns out it isn't the cable but the actual caliper on the wheel that's been sticking. Now freed, nicely lubed up and working as it should. Til next time
