£200 to for scrapping my lovely c5 110 hdi lx. Is that right

Post by boristhespie »

Been offered £200 for my c5 wgich was my first and which I believe has virtually nothing wrong other than an air leak I can't find or maf.

Well now it has a siezed front passenger caliper too.

So felt i couldn't do anything but get rid of it to scrappy which i am gutted by. (I'm very sentimental and also hate scraping something that i feel just needs tlc. Alas tlc that a clutz like me the unmechanical one is unable to give.

Is 200 a decent offer?

Possibly.. put it this way, I got 80 quid on the weigh bridge metal processors for a stripped shell...

Few weeks later I got 80 quid again for a Xantia shell, minus engine and box and front subframe, but plus two rear subframes and most interior in..

So 200 at a scrap yard is ok I guess.. I would of given you 300 for her though..

She aint gone yet.

Why sentimental. A whole part of my life I had her. She links back to a place I loved.

I recently got £205.00 each for two XM estates which are probably about the same weight. If yours was an estate and a bit nearer I might consider it.

Henry Gray in Kirkcaldy seems to offer the most generous prices around here. I know they collect from as far as Aviemore so Arbroath should be on their round.

No, indeed not. I, and I'm sure we all, understand completely. We get very attached to our cars. Passing one on, in whatever way, is always a terrible wrench

Let's be honest, they become part of the family...

He offered £150. It's going tomorrow to Larencekirkish. Absolutely gutted. Beautiful car. Immaculate inside. Better than what i've got by a mile. Was very well looked after. Just unfortunately being unable to get to it and run it 6-7 months led to brake siezure.

Gutted.

Well that is that. I know you're all "blokes" but being a woosy emotional type I was lip wabbling to see her go.

Engine started the Scoobly no bother, the inside and outside immaculate next to the car I am left with.

KX02 ZX0 will now be pulled apart and all my years on ferries and travelling from the most Northern part of the UK to the South of france, the constant "norm" of 90mph while dodging sheep and the comfort in bad weather on the Fivla will be lost.

A waste of a relatively healthy car. Damn being ill.
