ZX Blower failure

Post by froggy »

Hi, the blower in my 1995 ZX has just stopped working . I have checked the fuse, it/s ok . I changed the resistor pack last year, so hopefully that/s ok . Iam wondering, could it be the switch ( dashboard) or maybe the motor itself . If so, how can I test both items? Thanks inadvance Terry . [-o<

I bet it's the blower resistor again, they fail regularly, my theory is that when the motor gets old and tight, it pops them frequently.

Yes, did on my old 1.4. A replacement from the scrapper sorted it out. although they're all getting old now. Easier than continuously replacing resistor packs.

Just replaced the resistor pack on my ZX. Started up.......then a pop noise!! I thought the resistor packs gone . the blower starts again , miracle, then the blower starts sqeaking, well, could the problem be the motor itself ? and not the resistor . any thoughts? cheers inadvance, Terry .

Hi Terry. As Lighty stated, and as happened with mine, the blower gets tight and blows the resistors. Time for a replacement blower.

It's an easy DIY job if you can get one.
