The Great C-Pillar Trim Mystery!

Unread post by jwalshe »

Hello all,

Subject title possibly a bit... over-dramatic. Sorry about that.

So as you can see from the picture, the trim has gone a bit 'funny' over the years. Having tried to T-cut, baking soda and various other substances to clean it up, the stains persist.

I thought they might be stainless steel but I've concluded they must be silver plastic inserts. Looks like you can peel them off but unless I can find a replacement or an alternative, I'm asking what you lovely people think.

As is often the case, you may know something I don't... :-)

Thanks in advance,

James

I'll go and get a couple off the shelf for you James that are next to the Hen's Teeth...

Indeedy, rare as a rare thing...

Just asked dad and he said he gets asked for them regularly - totally unobtainable...

 :(

I may be missing the obvious but are these s1 or s2 Prestige trims? I ask as
I'm pretty certain I have some that look like these that I took of a s1 Prestige.

S2 probably are machine polished unobtainium though!

James' car is a a late Series 1 25 Prestige - hopefully you've got some somewhere Andrew!

For others info, here's a picture of the Series two custode trims:

Totally unobtainable however a few months back we discovered two BRAND NEW trims in Roger's shed when we cleared it out. The stuff of dreams!!

Well, wherever they actually are in the stash I have some then - I'm pretty certain they're
made completely out of the finest naff early 80's plastic money could buy for the era!
As for the s2 ones, wearing my hat as a graphic designer I shudder as I read that badge!

Maybe why I prefer the CX Limousine as I really can't live with the tinsel on the Pallas and
Prestige trim...
