I'm after a cheap multi-seater for a holiday. I have seen venerable petrol Mark 2 Espaces (2.0) in good condition going for affordable amounts. I won't want a Renault diesel because of past experiences, and considering I won't be doing galactic mileages economy isn't so much of an problem. What reliability issues might I expect from this (what appears to be widespread) standard petrol? What niggles and faults appear common? And - if in the end I do load the car five up with luggage - with the air con on... what can I expect the economy to be? (Manual).

S*d it, bought a Pug 806 instead lol!

Hi, I'm on my second Espace, a mk4 which wasn't too expensive to purchase but it has had a few niggles. Brilliant motorway mile-eater and certainly versatile but then other makes of mpv are too. Can be a bit thirsty around town. Some folk I know have faultless cars then some members on a different forum have had expensive repair bills. That said, other manufacturers cars, full of electronics, can be horrendously costly to repair.
