Post by Bick »

a question for people in the know, would you go for one of these or do you think the sales pitch is bs?

Have a look at this thread....

A good few of us on here have the kit supplied by the purveyor mentioned in the first post and generally we're very happy with them...

I believe buying a Lexia can be a bit of a minefield so a recommendation is a good way. I can certainly recommend the one mentioned in the above thread...

I bought mine in the last Lexia purchase via the first link on Jim's post purely because people reported they worked when they got them. As mine had to be delivered to a friend in the UK I don't get it till wednesday, can't wait, just like Xmas for me.

I can only imagine the difference is not dodgy dealers just good and bad software copies or circuit boards. All depends on the original supplier, I bought because the seller seems to have found someone who pays attention when producing the goods.

First seller is "Jim" , you`ll get the Diagbox Version 6.01 with a reflashed interface with updates to "i think" v6.14 and good afterservice ,

second guy is selling Diagbox version 5.02 with updates to version 5.29 , he doesn`t tell you that if you decide to update beyond v5.29 your interface will stop working , or if you change to version 6.01 it`ll stop working aswell .
For what we are about to receive may we be truly thank full.

With the many kits advertised, including that on the Group Buy, it gets pretty confusing, as the version numbers are meaningless (certainly to me) other than inferring a more up-to-date revision. Many ads carry a codicil of NOT working with ALL models of C5 which is pretty disconcerting, as they do not specify which year, models, or reasons why.
I have been stalling on purchase for a while to be sure what I get is 100% compatible with the R3 C5, but guess there are fewer of these models on the 2nd hand market as of yet.
As Jim said in the 2nd post, recommendation by users on this forum (and others) for your model and year are the only valid comments IMHO, and as eBay ads and comments tend to concentrate on the sale and delivery side rather than functionality, they are pretty useless.

I bought this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200748349815? ... 1497.l2649" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Works great on my C5.
Anybody know if I can update it? It came with the v6 software on CD but I installed the v5 just to be safe.

Anything sold with PP2000/Lexia3 or Diagbox V5.02 - V5.29 cannot run newer version 6.01 and above , you`re interface will need reflashed ,
if you are not reading newer cars , ie 2010 and above , stick to pp2000/Lexia3 , they are far quicker and easier to understand.

Hi guys thank you for the replies - sorry it took so long to get back on this one but busy busy!

I have looked at the seller the forum recommends and he currently has no listing.

from what you all say the next one to go for is the first listing I found and not the second, is this the case or should I wait to see if the forum recommended seller relists?

thanks again

Just like to update everyone on my lexia purchase.

After speaking to Jim at easydiagnostics (http://www.easydiagnostics.co.uk/#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) I decided to purchase the Autocom CDP Pro + diagnostic cable kit.

Well Jim is a fantastic guy to deal with and even installed everything for me on line, I cannot recommend him enough.

As for the autocom its a fantastic piece of kit and will enable me to diag all vehicles - for the money it is a brilliant piece of kit.

So thank you Birdman for doing me a big favour by recommending Jim.

By the way folks I live in the Birmingham area so if anyone is stuck for a diag drop me a post and ill see what i can do!
