C5 rear struts

Post by john alexander »

Hi . The rear suspension struts on my C5 est 06 plate seem to be held in by 2 bolts , can the struts be removed without removing the spheres , I need to replace the rubber gaiter . John.

looking at service citroen yes it seems there is a collar behind the sphere and around the neck of the strut/cylinder,
the cylinder will come out forward so yes the sphere will need removing,

although it is usually possible to replace the boot without removing the cylinder,

jack the car up and safely support it before getting underneath, depressurize the system, then you should be able to disconnect the push rod from the arm,

now it should be possible to fiddle the boot of and re/fit the new one,
