LHM fluid loss near the reservoir

This refers to 1998 T reg Citroen Xantia 1.9TD automatic with 155K miles on the clock and counting.

On the way to work Red STOP lamp flickered and then became solid.
Checked the LHM fluid level and was shocked to find the 1 litre bottle disappeared right before my eyes.
Obviously a leak had developed but where. Quickly drove back home to deal with over the weekend.
Brakes and Steering worked fine over the two miles journey so I am assuming it has something to do with the suspension circuitry.


This morning I found the fluid was leaking from under the LHM reservoir.

question is how do I describe this block and where do I source this seal from, as I could not find any drawing or reference to this on the french citroen website. How do I take it apart as the end cap is neither a nut or a torque bolt. I assuming this will be a stealer part only.

As ever any advice will be most appreciated.

The O ring is compatible with a size used for the hydraulic pump - I think the larger of the two small ones.

Malcolm repairs these in-situ by using Vise-Grips to release the endcap and refit when done.

even though it felt a bit thin and floppy for the job.
However, no more leaks now .

I was surprised to find that the Anti-sink bolck's end cap was just about finger tight!
it came off very easily. The question is, was it vibrations or is there something else which is hammering the end cap off. Early sign of Hydraulic pump failure?.
