Citroen ZX Diagnostic Socket

Post by juno106 »

I have a 1997 ZX 1.4i (multipoint) with Magneti Marelli 1AP injection. I want to try and read any fault codes it may have as I am trying to track down a recurring problem with idling, where it hunts or holds on to revs and it's not the idle control valve or a vacuum leak. However I am very confused over what way to go about it. It has a 2 pin connector under the bonnet, however it is not the usual Citroen 2 pin connector i am used to, i.e. the one where you earth one of the pins to make the ECU play out the fault codes. Any documentation or descriptions for diagnostic equipment I have researched on the internet suggests that it should have a 30 pin connector like fitted to Xantia's/XM's of same era as its post 1995.

I believe the car to be a grey import as it was purchased in the Irish Republic and registered in the UK and its trim name is 'Elysee' which I have never heard of. Also it is not fitted with, or has any wiring for, a keypad immobiliser.

Any help much appreciated.

Matt.
