Post by mm1 »

hey guys.have a 2003 c5 hdi.the abs and service light has come on.
local mechanic plugged it in to the computer and came up with faulty
abs pump.new one from citroen is 850euro.he has tried fitting a
second hand one but to no avail.he said the part numbers have to be identical
which is proving very hard to get.has anyone had this problem and is there an
easy fix.thanks in advance.

A friend had this same problem on a C5 recently, apparently there are two types of pump and from the sound of it your car has the same/rare one. He managed to find a second hand replacement, fitted it and all is now working well, I carried out a diagnostic session on it and the previously recorded faults have cleared so it would appear that provided you can find a decent replacement pump of the same type its simply a case of fitting it.

Do we (collectively) know what the differences are between the pumps? when we say pumps do we mean pumps or the complete ABS block?

i presume its the whole abs block he's replacing.have check several second
hand pumps.the numbers on the front are the same as mine but the
numbers on the back are different.is it the numbers on the back that
really matter?
