Refurbing 2CV Seats

Post by ragger »

Help re seats?

I need to refurbish the driver's seat on my 2CV since it has sagged disastrously. I know the bits are available from Ecas, but I am unsure how to begin to dismantle the existing seat. The current cover is in poor condition but I am hoping to re-use it, to save some cash. Help would be appreciated; it seems like the sort of job I should be able to do...

Hi Rob,

Ive not done them myself but as far as I can see the covers should come off quite easily and you will see the springs (rubber bands). Ours is a bit different as it has open style covers, you can see the bands easily. Its a simple design but it would be easier if you could remove the seat and turn it upside-down.

Seat reupholstery now done, including a necessary weld to the frame. I have refitted the original seat cover, but it is really beyond saving but I can't afford a full set of "proper" replacements - I would prefer to spend the cash (when I get it) on something more necessary and less cosmetic. Consequently, can anyone recommend some decent quality loose covers that will fit a 2CV and enhance the appearance?

Thanks Rob
