Retaining pin stuck in front brake calliper...Help!
Hi...Again. Well I started to do my front brakes and pads on my Xantia (W reg 2l HDI) and guess what! The bloody retaining pin just will not budge....at all. Any advice would be much appreciated as this is really making a mess of my weekend. Thanks.

If you don't have a drift, then an old philips screwdriver and a lump hammer normally do the trick. Weetabix may be required.
Also, make sure you've removed the R clip from the pin first!

Hi. Been trying that but frightened og doing any damage to the calliper by too much "(-expletive removed-)". And if that isn't a word, it should be!

best use them before adding milk as they are not much good as a drift when they get soggyXac wrote:Weetabix may be required.

This is a three Weetabix job
Judiciously soak the ends of the in in Plus Gas (not WD40 - it's rubbish for this work) and then use a properly sized pin punch and a good sized engineers hammer. A toffee hammer won't do. You need a big 'un.
The using good blows the pin will come out. The secret is in using a correctly sized pin punch...
