Xantia S2 - Indicator/Wiper stalk removal

Post by gadgetgricey »

OK time for todays stupid question.

1) remove airbag - check
2) remove radio controls - Check
3) Remove clock spring - Check
4) Remove wheel torx bolt - check
5) Steering wheel removal - Check
5) Disconnect electrical connections for indicators and wipers - check
6) wiper/indicator switch removal - Fail

There seems to be a grey/green box in the centre of the wheel that is stopping the switches from being removed. (Its not on an S1, as I changed the switches on that last week?).

How do I remove it, or even just get the switch's off.

Thanks again.

Both wiper and lights stalks have two torx screws. You need a T10 key to remove them.

I couldn't see the picture link given by you. It seems that my browser doesn't
convert/interpret the "space" characters in the picture name which are seen as "%20".
May be you should replace "space" for example with "_" character.

Anyway here's a pic from my car when I replaced the wiper stalk.

Pic attached as an upload.

Have been trying to remove the whole unit. Did not realise that you could just remove the one side........

As an aside, dont know why the pics are not working. Direct link copied from Photobucket. (Have also just posted onto another forum I use, and same link worked without issue???)

More investigations to be done.

Have changed "img" to "1mg" above so that it shows up.

"Correct" link below

When I put http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd18 ... C11071.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; into a browser I get the "This image or video has been moved or deleted" image as shown in your post.
Just tried again and I get a 404 page not found.

Xac, I think I found the cause of problem, it was the folder name.
If it has "space" character then the link is copied with some other characters instead of space.

You can try it from gadgetgricey's pages: http://s222.photobucket.com/albums/dd18 ... ?start=all" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Then go to a sub folder with name for example: "Ebay album"
I copied the first pic there, with "Copy image" feature of photobucket ("@" signs are added by me):
[@IMG]http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd18 ... C10858.jpg[@/IMG]
"%20" is added on it's own and the link doesn't show the pic.

Using the copy IMG code worked for me.
%20 is the same a a space so won't cause any problems.

It was the spelling of xantia, if you use Xantia in the link it isn't found.
Photobucket must use a Unix based web server which is case sensitive.
