C5 heater fan speed control

I've lost the 2nd speed on the cabin fan of my 2003 C5 (air conditioning but not climate control) - The haynes manual tells me its controlled by a resistor bank situated behind the sound proofing under the drivers facia - I cant find it there - I can find an electronic (mosfet) fan speed controller in that position on my wife's climate controlled C5, but nothing on mine. Has anybody have any idea where I might find it?

my friends pug 307 the terminals of the resistor pack had got over hot through back connection's,
the pack was on the fan motor base like the XANT,

i cleaned and tightened the all the terminals up and its been fine since
