2.0 HDI (110) Xantia starter motor.

Post by Stepto1 »

My starter is failing fast so need a new one.

Does anyone know the part number I need?

Loads for sale on eBay for many different models but not sure which one is right.

Or has anyone got one?

There are many different makes fitted, but there appear to be only 2 types - Class 5 and Class 6 (whatever that means....!). Citroen part no 5802FJ and 5802M4. I guess either will fit. There is no distinction between 90 and 110 engines, so my guess is all 2.0HDi 8v's use the same starter (C5 and Xsara Pic list the same part nos.)

This is the one I got.

Brand new, no faffing around with exchanges and cheaper than some s/h units. It's not going to be the best quality at that price but approximately 100000000000 times better than the OEM unit. We've had it for a couple of years now, so I'd be happy to buy the same one again.

Ta for that.

Had to pay £70 for an exchange unit yesterday as the old one died completely!

Fitted it this morning and it's a new car!

That's not too bad, I was struggling to get anybody local under £100 exchange and that was using a trade contact.

I'd improved the original by taking it apart and cleaning it, but snapped one of the long bolts that hold it together. I didn't want to risk using it long-term but my friend did and it's still working in his car.

GSF has a rebuild in for £60+vat and an OE one for £90+vat(this will be a rebuild anyway!)

They want £40 if no exchange unit available. I've got about 5 old starters in my lock up!!!!

Must be worth some cash to someone???
