Boot lights?

Post by Irish_C5 »

I don't have the handbook in front of me right now and I didn't think to look it up when I was in the car this morning... Is there a switch in the C5 estate to turn on the boot lights? Mine aren't coming on.

Thanks for your thoughts!

They should come on when the tailgate or tailgate glass is opened. Timed at about five minutes.

Thanks myglaren. The courtesy light in the glove box is also not working. Perhaps it's all controlled off the same fuse. Anyway, I'll have a better idea later today after my mechanic has finished his examination. It's on the (growing) list of things to look at.

The really annoying thing is that I bought this car last week at a (non-Citroen) main dealer and I (naively?) expected that it would have none of these issues.

Ah well, caveat emptor, I suppose...

Its a very rare thing to find any car, no matter how new or old, which doesn't need anything doing, you just hope that its not going to need too much  Even if you know everything there is to know about the car so can inspect it well, once you start living with it you soon notice what needs doing.

Hi,

When I bought my C5 off a dealer my boot lights didnt work either. I took the lights out and the dealer had unplugged them. Presumably so he could have it on the forecourt with boot open and lights off so the battery wouldnt go flat. Maybe worth a try.

Clearly wasn't aware of the C5's power saving capabilities.
