Xantia parcel shelf repair kit

Folks, I have done a search for this topic, all the results I find are a couple of years old, so I thought it would be ok to post as a new topic.
I have the parcel shelf with integrated blind in my S2 Xantia hatch. However, the cords which support it on opening the hatch are knackered. I have removed the two plugs from the end of the tunnel containing the cord, sadly one was damaged in the process as it was very brittle.

Here's what I have left:



Question - is there a repair kit for this, and can it be bought online or do I need to visit a Citroen dealer? (breakers yards don't have any Xantias at the moment)

Repair kit is a rip off, just elastic and the bits you already have!

I bought 2m of knicker elastic and bodged together a repair with the old lengths of black cord.

It's lasted two years and has outlived two cars! Need to get it back and put it in my Mk2, didn't know it would fit and I miss my rear blind!

There are repair kits available, but there are several different ones, depending on the age / which shelf is fitted. None are disasterously expensive, so get the dealer to look the right one up against the VIN.

The VIN number won't help as I bought the parcel shelf from ebay. Guess I'll need to visit the dealer anyway.

There's one on ebay still, at £25 + £10 postage... I'm loathe to pay much in case it breaks, and what if it turns out the car I have bought is a useless lump of carp, anyway!

I think the repair above sounds very viable - and it's cheap.

dont forget the elastic doesnt do owt for lilfting the shelf, it just retracts the lifting coords when you shut the boot again..

Round cross-section elastic, from a sewing shop or market stall -- just a matter of measure and substitute. It's the same repair as sorts the rear shelf cords of a ZX when the original retracting elastic's perished.

I did the same fix on my old ZX, but you're a bit snookered if any of the plastic bits are knackered. All the fat girl's knicker elastic in Essex won't help you then
