Did you do a full set of citrobics before topping up as I imagine that would eliminate any air.

If you don't have any visible leaks then a ruptured sphere is a logical cause as well as one or more sphere's being low on pressure, both of these will cause an additional volume of LHM to be pushed into a sphere/lower the tank level. Any idea of how old the sphere's are and/or does the car have a stiff corner or end when pushing down on a wing?

What's the tick rate like - could be a collapsed accumulator.
