C5 dual cabin heating - one side hot?

Post by Johnno »

Hi

I've noticed a few other posts on this general issue whereby one side of the cabin climate system does not respond to the temperature settings. On my '07 model, the passenger side is always warm (though not 'thermo-nuclear' hot as once happened on my previous C5). For the moment I'm assuming that the control flaps on that side have become stuck in one position. I've seen stuff here about the flap motor - is there only one? If so, presumably the motor is not at fault, as the driver's side seems to function correctly. I'm also assuming there is only one cabin temperature sensor (small grill situated to the left of the glove box?) and that failure of this would result in a general system screw-up.

Disengaging the link between the two sides and going for individual manual control seems to make no difference.

From what I've read, access is by removing the glove box and not the console panel - is this correct?

With warmer weather coming on, I don't want to be sitting in a sauna, so any help appreciated - or just a pointer to the right link to a previous post.

Many thanks.
John

Ta v. much, Clogzz. That article is just the ticket. It's a good thing I have this week off work - gives me a chance to break plastic clips and lose lots of important screws!

You’re welcome, :) but there’s a problem looming in that Citroen dealers will say that the part doesn’t exist.
It’s not listed in the models list that keeps referring to 6447EL, which is the original part with the short spline.
The members above who managed to get one obviously went to some very rare enlightened dealers.

Best wishes with the clips and screws.

No i got the wrong part initially, i had to download the photo and take it to the main dealer to show them/prove the part did exist!
