Goodbye 1.9TD Xantia, hello 2.0HDI Xantia!!!

Post by Stepto1 »

Hell of an engine!!! Much better then the 1.9 in the other one. Pulls like a train between 1500-3000rpm.

Picked it up and paid £350 for it. It came with EVERY MOT from new and EVERY receipt. 139k on the clock and she runs great.

Bad bits, well, the side airbag light stays on, she's a bit firm up front, the drivers seat is out of adjustment and sits too high and there are a couple of stone chips on the bonnet. Oh, and there's a rattle from the engine at tickover that goes when the revs pics up. And I thick the LHM made need changing/flushing.

Other then that she's a much better car then the other three Xantias I have had. Even the lights, ABS, AC and CC work!

Fingers crossed.

Rookie mistake  never, NEVER say how great it is that everything works on a car, no matter what it is!

You seem very happy with it anyway so i hope it serves you well, good find too!

Could be the bottom pulley, certainly worth checking out, paint a line across the different sections of the pulley then run the engine for a while/couple of days and see if the marks no longer line up. If the pulley breaks up the cambelt will more than likely jump :(

Sounds like a bit of a bargain that car, swap the sphere's with your TD, tighten the torx screws on the height adjusting lever and change LHM, sorted :-D

Cool. Sounds like the bottom pulley to me. Will swap spheres over today.

The airbag light is the one that shows the side airbags. Goes out when started then comes back on after a few seconds.

She'll raise from normal easily, sink to low the same but then only the front will raise when set back to normal. If set on high she'll go back up and will drop to normal without fuss.

Why tighten the Torx screws on the night adjuster lever?

Apologies I'm referring to the seat height adjusting lever as the torx screws securing it generally come loose and cause the seat to lift up.

Ah. That explains it.

The 1.9TD HAS to go this weekend. The tax disk has been sent back and I need to shift it. It's there if anyone wants it. £130??? 12 months MOT on it !!!
