Hi all
Sylv's ZX appears to have a leak from the underside of the pump.
Of course, hers is the DW8 which makes it more involved to remove in the first place. Not a job I particularly fancy doing just yet as I only changed cambelt back in November.
I have read http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... =3&t=33751" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and note Kim's comments.
However, on the underside of the pump (it is difficult to see) there appears to be a drain plug with a copper washer. Am I right on this point? It feels as though it is leaking from that sort of area generally.

Don't touch that plug Roger, it's not a drain plug... It's one of the bolts that holds the distributor head in place,,,
Lucas pumps tend to leak from the top and the diesel dribbles down and looks as if it's coming from the bottom. This is a very common fault.
A straightforward resealing kit will do the job. Get on to Merlin Diesel and get one ordered up. It used to be a job that could be done in-situ until they armoured them but the good news is that a Lucas is a lot easier to de-armour than a Bosch...

Mystery solved! Ir's that damned solenoid in the front of the pump again! Needs new seal and some thread lock.
