AX warning light query

Post by Ellefishe »

Hi,
I am getting an occasional flashing orange warning light on my 1996 AX. The light is orange and shaped like a walking stick with some drops of liquid coming from each end!! Not a great description - sorry. Anyone know what it might be? Or where I can find an online dashboard diagram of an AX?
Thanks

Oil warning. Either low pressure or low volume.
Have you checked the oil (dipstick) as the electronic dipstick can be unreliable.

Yes, low oil level or low pressure. It might well be a fault with the sensor, though don't asume that, you don't want to risk running with low a oil level or low oil pressure.

If you have not already, check the oil level first and if that is fine get a garage to check it out for low oil pressure.

and if it is low oil level check/look at the front left corner joint were the head joines the block right next to the cam belt covers,

if there is oil from the head downd the block face you have a head gasket gone, and thats were you iol will be getting out,

Thanks for replies, but it's not the oil warning -that's the red oil can, as Chris570 has said. This one is orange and looks more like a curved pipe with drips. I have checked oil dipstick and it is fine, and no sign of leak from gasket. I think it's another type of warning - is there one for brakes or gear fluid?

brake fluid light is the same as handbrake, it just stays on.

don't worry, it's either a duff bit of wiring or something else silly, amber is an advisory not a caution. what engine and trim level do you have.
