Diesel tuning chip/remap

Post by MonkeyMark »

Hi all,

Does anyone have experiences of tuning chips or remaps on the C8 2.0HDi's?

Seen them for around £200 saying an increase from 109bhp to around 135. (at least i think it's the 109 version).

What have your experiences been of these?

I have one on a 90BHP Berlingo HDi. It does give some extra oomph and alledgedly about 8mph on the max speed officer. Mine claims to take it from 90 to 112BHP and give a considerable torque increase. As I've not had it on a dyno, I couldn't tell you the exact figures with / without the box plugged in. It does make a difference, but whether that is because the extra fuel pressure just smoothes the engine out a little and makes it "feel" better, or because it actuallly really does make a difference, I can't tell. It doesn't seem to affect economy at all.

My experience of a remap was on a 1.9 JTD Multipla and it made a significant difference to performance - especially noticeable when fully laden with family and luggage. Diesel consumption was unaffected; I've run standard versions before and since. The only downside was clutch slippage and wear. Multipla replacements are very expensive. For this reason I have left our current Multipla alone, but I do miss the extra power for overtaking.

Anyone know how much a c8 clutch is and how hard a job it is?
Think its near the end of its life, clutch pedal right up before biteing. If it's an expensive/hard job, i'll leave the tuning for now.

I was thinking of getting this done on my 90 bhp and was told that an electrical component is all that's needed to take it to 110 don;t really know if that's possible

I was quoted £400 off an independent garage for my clutch and I ended up getting a guy to do it for £350 but mine didn't have the dual mass flywheel.I was told it was a big job gearbox out and about 6 hours labour

Sorry no experience on the C8 2.0 HDI's although I did pay a lot to have my 3.0 HDI C5 Tourer remapped properly and all I can say is,....wow!!

240 bhp to 300 bhp and 332flbt to 460flbt.

My car has now done over 20k miles on the map and all is ok plus the real bonus is the fuel consumption has improved by around 5mpg, not to mention the performance improvements :-)

In my humble opinion, it's worth paying for a proper remap,....
