C5 or VSX.....hmmmmmmm

Unread post by citroenxm »

HA.. NO its not a car debate, everyone has an opinion on those, but it is in fact a wheel debate..

C5; it's a nattier design for that silver colour. Your picture makes the car look tiny at the rump like a Xsara!

Are the UK plastic scuff trims (bumper and doors) textured when in body colour or grainless?

Oddly I like the C5 wheels on your Xantia, the VSX is far better looking on the S1 Xantias. Plus your back one looks under-tyred in the wheel arch there, I guess they are off an early VSX with small tyres? As yours should wear 205.60s?

Talking of which, what size tyres are on the C5 wheels, should be 205.65.15 for that shape of C5 wheel though that would be quite large for a Xantia?

Im yet to see one but im sure a Xantia would suit the C5 SX alloy wheels - the smaller engined style hatchback wheels, not the 2.2/estate SX wheels you have there. Though they do suit it! 8-)

I like the C5 wheels too, but unfortunally they ARE centreless alloys.. pity.. The cap does come off, but there is alloy mount for the cap in the way.. im sure..

The VSX alloys have got 195 55 tyres which were on the alloys when I bought them in on a car... which returned to steelies.. and yes they are too small for the arch.. as for the fronts they are 205 65 15... which makes them huge!

The car should have 205 60 15 on her.. and for me.. well it will be the VSX alloys when the C5 rubber has worn out.

I tried fitting 205 65 15 to the last Xantia I had, and they wouldn't fit the rear wheel arches. The were fouling in the fuel filler pipes!

Front one is doing it for me, more perky? The rear one makes it look lardy, in my totally unqualified cit specialistNOT opinion,ie,no offence intended to purists etc. :)

I totally know how the wrong wheel on a car can bug the heck out of some people, even me

C5 wheels Paul...

Having seen this very car in the metal not long ago I thought then the C5 wheels suited it down to the ground...

Think I would be getting a set of 205.60.15 tyres and putting them on the C5 wheels, they look much better than the VSX wheels ... I usually really like VSX wheels but on a S2 they just dont look right to me.

Yes, they are centreless wheels, as are the SX wheels fitted to 1.8-2.0s too. Though ive not had a problem getting them balanced, you just need to find somewhere who does it. All other C5 wheels have centres.

I have a tidy VSX wheel with new tyre which I want to replace for an Activa wheel, they are like hens teeth at the moment

I prefer the VSX wheels, I'm not a huge fan of the style of wheel you've got on the front, plus the former are easier to clean
