Sheared - another silly mistake

Post by KennyW »

Hi All,

Just another tale of woe or stupidity.

I've just changed the copper washer and plastic seal on the injectors when torquing down the nut, I snapped the stud #-o .

Anybody else done this and how easy is it to remove.

Bugger

service.citroen just shows it as a std stud, so it should come out if you can get a purchase on it - is any sticking out you can get stilsons / mole grips on? If not, could you weld a nut on it? Otherwise, it's stud extractor time, but that is going to be a whole world of pain with a steel stud in an alloy head....

Richard,

Luckily :) , there is part of the stud above the head which I can grip I think there will be enough for the double nut job  .

I left last night so going to start today, the misses was okay about it, rather surprising since we were supposed to be going shopping :!:

As usual citroen have none in stock and it will be Tuesday earliest. Peugeot computers have crashed so unknown if they have any. I have M8 studs for the 1.9 TD which hold pump bracket but it appears to be a different thread.

Hi gang,

After much huffing and puffing I got the stud removed but I had to have the car transported to a excellent welder I know

He MIG'ed a nut on and the stud came off. All of 5mins in total. But on the trip home another injector popped off  Fortunately I could get home and picked up another stud sorted same.
The cause of the 2nd failure was the nut had lost its thread and slipped under pressure.

Hopefully trouble free motoring now :)
