Saxo indicator stalk. HELP before I explode.

Post by C.J. »

Common problem with these. Got myself a 2nd hand one and read ALL about it on the Saxo enthusiats forum.
Doddle to fit. 10 minutes they say. Couldn't be easier apparently.

REALLY? :x

After stripping everything down, wheel off , connectors finally undone after 2 hours of struggling...hurrah!!!!....and it STILL won't come out of its housing, mainly because the dashboard is in the way.

Has ANYBODY ever done one on these things on one of these wretched cars so I may possibly be able to complete, what should in essence be the easiest part of the job, 'i.e., simply slide the bloody thing out of it's seemingly unremovable housing, as I have now officially given up.
Gallon of petrol and a box of matches is currently beckoning.

You must be being too gentle, usually when you get to the end of the housing, the switch can be tilted and will just come out, if not you will need to either remove the housing, or drop the steering column a little, either is quite easy.

Yup, I can confirm that was also mentioned on the Saxo forum article i read.

Been upsidedown with my nut under the dash trying to find these 2 wretched bolts, but it seems to be a sea of plastic and wires, with no bolts to loosen in sight.

I might try the sledgehammer method before resorting to the petrol and matches one p'raps. :grr:

i promise you you'll kick yourself when you find them, the job should take no more than 20 mins, they arent hidden away.
