pug 406 coupe 2.0 16v immobiliser fault?

A friend has recently bought a 406 coupe with a non working speedo. He has cleaned speed sensor on the gearbox in case it was a bad connection.The car drove for a few hundred yards then cut out and refuses to start although it will turn over. Dash display shows Electronic igniton fault and also the key symbol appears on the instrument display.Any ideas? I usually drive diesels so I'm stumped! Any help appreciated as ever,thanks.

Fixed same day,blown fuse.Same fuse does speed sensor and engine management.
