There are 2 fuel pumps on the car the low pressure one is the one bikerbadge is talking about & there is also a high pressure one on the engine which is driven by the timing belt, removing & refitting this one is probably not for a complete novice.

Hello MarkC5,

Why do you need to change the pump?

What problem do you have?
Cheers, Kev

Hi Kev

Did say I was learning I mean't the fuel filter which I just assumed would be good to change as you do like the air filter and oil filter when the oil is changed.

Sorry everyone, that I mean't filter and not pump.

The fuel filter is easy to change. It's in a black plastic container at the front of the engine on the left. It's next to the fuel pump. The filter housing is around 80mm dia by 100 mm deep and has fuel pipes connected to pipes on the housing lid.

The problem is that there are two types of filter, one is Bosch the other Siemens. On my 2.2 Hdi it's a Siemens filter even though the rest of my fuel system is Bosch.

To find out which I had, I removed the filter element and compared it to filters on ebay.

So, first thing is to find out which filter unit you have.
Cheers, Kev

There's an easier way to tell if the fuel filter is Bosch or Siemens.

A Bosch filter housing has two pipes on the lid.

A Siemens housing has three pipes on the lid.

Siemens
