C5 3.0 HDI Tourer, new member

Post by telboy5 »

Hi all, new to the forum so bear with me.

I've been driving for well over 22 years now and tried so many different cars from Merc's, BMW's, Volvo's and most VW Group cars.

The most unreliable car I ever owned was a VW R36 Passat believe it or not.

So I come to my latest car which I have now owned for a year, done over 22k miles and can honestly say is one of the best built and most reliable cars I have ever owned, I am so pleased I made the jump and went against what all others were telling me to do.

My car is a 2010 Citroen C5 Tourer, 3.0 twin turbo diesel with the majority of kit like 19 inch alloys, sat nav and pan roof. I've had the car remapped and it's currently churning out 300 bhp and 460flbt.

So what's it like to drive,

Comfortable for five, swallows miles with ease and if you want to press on it can actually handle exceptionally well and trust me I know, I've had a VW Golf edition 30, R36, 540 sport, Merc c32 amg, Volvo s60r and this Citroen is just as capable in real world driving conditions in the twisties as the rest of them. Ok I do appreciate on a proper track the story would be different, however I'm not planning on track days.

The car is so quiet and only the huge tyres let the side down with the usual road rumble associated to low profile tyres of this size.

No rattles or squeaks with 40k miles on the clock, the build quality is exceptionally good!!!

Kids love the comfort and the boot is big enough for everything I have thrown at it.

I love the gas suspension, whilst a few bad road ruts still find their way through the cabin, the majority of the time, the car is very composed, comfortable and smooths out most roads with ease.

Brim to brim fill up mpg is currently around 39 mpg which for the performance on tap isn't bad at all.

Front tyres are lasting around 16k miles although a tad expensive to replace.

Servicing has been cheap and the only things needed doing on the car has been a recall, well pleased!!

All in all, this car is a beast with 300 bhp and 460flbt, really can't rate it high enough and it has seriously changed my perception of French cars as this has been a country mile ahead of any of the aforementioned cars in pretty much every way.

Sorry if I've bored some, just so chuffed with my car.

All the best
Terry

Many thanks, will try and update where possible.

Managed 41.5 mpg travelling to Reading from Bournemouth and back, stuck in traffic and still managed a good return!!!

No many of the 3.0 hdi's out there although they can be snapped up at a good price now,...
