I take it this car has Air Con?

Hey, I need to order a couple of belts for my car, (yes looking at the picture it should have been done years ago!!).

To do this I need to know if this car has Air Conditioning fitted.

It definitely looks like it as it has, what seems to be an air con dryer and three rads, (presumably the air con condenser).

It's a little confusing as there is no indication in the car that is has air con, like an A/C button or some sort of light or something.

Also where is the air con compressor?? In the Haynes manual is says it should be 'above' the HP pump?

Can't see it there?

Can anyone confirm that this car is definitely fitted with air con and that I need the auxillary belt for an air con car?

ps your timing belt looks a little of the inj sprocket?

pps have you wired your wvo heater to the glowplugs?

That's the dryer or dehydrator as it's called by Citroen, the compressor is at the bottom under the alternator.

I'm pretty sure the air-con button is to the right of the column on the dash, it has a snowflake emblem.

Hi, yes both belts are running slightly off. They have been for a couple of years now and don't seem to mind.

I was hoping that changing the aux belt and repositioning would sort the aux belt position out, and so therefore was hoping to only get the belts and not the whole expensive 'kits'? :/ Then at the same time change the brushes in the alternator.

Regarding the wvo:
Noooooooo, I'd never use glow plugs to heat oil. I'm using the huge amount of free wasted heat from coolant. I've got the 10 flat plate heat exchanger that you can see in the picture and I've also made another hot water tank type heat exchanger coil for the extra wvo tank in the boot (damn long pipes tho!)

Fingers crossed the compressor cuts out when low on gas and hasn't been running all this time! :/ eep.

That silver thing on the right of your red circle (but still in the circle) is the pressure switch, which determines if there's enough gas in the system to allow it to turn on, if theres not enough or too much pressure it cuts the power to the compressor so it wont have been running the whole time. On a phase 1 Xantia the AC button is to the right of the clock, it's the snow flake button.

Cam belt - Is it on the edge of the pump sprocket or does it actually overhang? If it overhangs, get those tensioners and water pump replaced ASAP and get a cover for it! If it doesn't overhang, get a cover for it!!!!!

Aux belt - I can't see from the pic if you've got the auto tensioner or the earlier manual one. If it's the auto (ie has a spring behind the hydraulic pump) you need to replace the tensioner and the spring.

Fuel pump - see that plunger that goes to the trottle arm? Remove it.

Throttle arm plunger: What that dampener arm thingy, attached to throttle? Why remove it?

ahhh, fantastic.

I've got an air con matey, I'll get a vac test done on the system before recharging and testing compressor. Or might test compressor quickly (v short running time) before recharging with gas.

I assume R134a gas?

Wonder where the schrader valves are for testing high/low pressure sides and for refilling? :/

Looks like manual tensioner to me, so yours is a bit of a mix between the 1.9 and 2.1 pictures in the haynes book.

Get the cam belt cover on to protect it. If the aux belt were to snap or debris get flicked up it'll be staight into your cam belt and if it doesn't snap it, all it takes is for something to get between the belt and a pulley and your timing slips potentially destroying the cam.

The plunger restricts the responsiveness of the throttle, removing it can make the car feel a bit snappier.
Another tweak is to use a 15mm spanner to slacken the lock nut in the top of the ufo on the fuel pump, then with a T27 turn the fun screw clockwise two turns. Ticghten up the lock nut and see if you smile when you go for a drive.
It increases the fuelling when on boost (above 2000rpm) giving you a bit more power.

It's been badly fitted, not enough care taken to get it fully on.
