Pppphhhewwwww thats some conversion...

As the 1.9td is more a "Mechanical" engine the HDi is a very "Electronic" engine! Theres a LOT more wireing to do... engine harness, ecu etc.. You will ALSO need to unlock the ECU so it will work without a Car Body Computer and ignition pickup...

The ignition pickup does NOT wire directly to the car ECU, it wires via the body computer, and the wireing is not "a simple plug and go".. So in short, the engine will physically fit... then with an Unlocked ECU the engine harness to ECU will fit, but Im not 100% about engine harness to ignition switch and instruments..

By an Unlocked ECU I mean the Starting Immobiliser needs removing so it will start without needing the "Key Transponder".

Having said ALL that above, the 1999 TD Synergye should already have a Body computer and transponder pickup (By having NO Keypad immobiliser, and instead an Orange "Key" light when the key switched on)

Ive no idea if simply plugging the Matched Body computer and HDi ECU into the TD synergye will work. You need the matched ignition key to go with the HDi engine.. It ALL gets VERY complex really.

Its not going to be an easy conversion whatever you do.If it was me I would change all wiring and ecusforward of the driver's seat. That would include all the harnesses and fusebox behind the dashwhich would mean taking the dash out..You will need to change ignition lock as well so that the key from the HDi can mate up with its own immobiliser. It may be possible to adapt the wiring without doing all that but there are so many things that could go wrong. If you just want to do it because the present engine is shot then it would be way easier to buy the right engine and change it into your car.

Theres LOTS of options for finding the TD engine...

Even the older TD mechanical engines will do with a lot of swapping around..

Anyway - TRY:

Late Xantias - 1997 onwards.
Pug 306 - 97 onwards
Pug 406 - 97 onwards
Pug 806 - 97 onwards
Fiat Ulyesee - This model in particular uses Citroens engine, NOT fiats
Citroen Xsara - 98 onwards

I have in past taken a 1994 TD engine which is completely mechanical and put it in an S reg Series 2 Xantia.

I did though have to swap the flywheel from the newer engine onto the older engine, for the pickup sensor, and also the Injection pump needed swapping over, and the injectors... but it worked fine.. It depends how much mechanical capability you have..
