Xantia SINKER: Rear suspension MAIN Feed

Post by citroenxm »

Hi all..

Does anyone know to where the rear suspension MAIN feed pipe connects to at the front??

Ive a pipe to replace on a 1994 L reg Sinker, which of course is a single pipe to the front...

Does it goto the Security valve, or some where else??

Im asking so I make sure I get a pipe to replace it with from my collection.. and I know it will be long enough..

Thanks
Paul

Paul, I'd think it is the security valve...

I can check tomorrow (remind me if I forget) as I have all the piping diagrams for sinkers stashed away in my archives somewhere...

Just a normal sinker is it? Not a Hydractive sinker?

i would have thought it comes straight off the Security valve, or at least to a three way union that is fed from the Security valve,
as the Security valve usualy has one feed in and two out, one straight through to the dosure valve before the valve opens, the other out to the suspension after the valve opens,

I'll ditto Jim's response, i can check later on my diagrams if you like but as said i would follow the security valve pipe work it has to be one of the 3.5mm that either comes off it directly (i know it does on anti-sink) or uses a K piece to do it

Service.citroen shows it coming off the security valve. It lists a std sinker at 3718 mm, a hydractive sinker at 3840mm, MK2s at 3690mm and Activas at 3875mm

Three now :-D I've just checked the official bibles and indeed, straight off the security valve and straight to the rear height corrector...

Ooooo WAIT a min...

This pipe does NOT goto the height corrector.... It goes to a K splitter on the drivers side - NOT The height corrector!

Its NOT brakes thats a thicker pipe and that goes to a K splitter on the passenger side...

are you sure Paul
i thought the three way onion whooops union being fed from the front is the brake pipe feed/ k spliter,

the other three way onion (k pliter )
is the rear suspension unit feed from the hight corector,

the plumbing system should be more or less the same as a BX setup on a sinker XANT aint it,

hey, yes the pipe to the rear corrector comes straight from the security valve. The pipe that supplies the rear pair of suspension struts has a K- union on it to split to either strut and supply a single, really long feed to the brake valve.

This makes two high pressure front to rear pipes, the other two front to rears are the rear brake pipe from the brake valve and the operational return from the corrector. These 4 rigid pipes tend to all take the same route along the underside on just about all Citroens from the GS to the Mk1 Xantia sinker.

All I can say is the information came from a diagram in the official workshop manuals. I'll post a scan later

hope you havnt cut the wrong pipe then Paul

from memory there is one three way and one 4 way onion/spliter, the three way being the rear brake feed/supply,

the 4 way onion is feed from the hight corector, two spur's the the rear struts, and the 4th goes back to the dosure valve,

and the three metal pipes at the hight corector are main supply from the front, supply to the suspension rams, and the main return back to the tank,

Okay.. Theres two K junctions at the back.. I KNOW the passenger side one is brakes as the pipes are slightly larger... Then on the drivers side at the exact mirrord position is another one with 3.5mm pipes... The car will not even come up it leaks out that quickley.... Starting at the K joint i have pulled up the pipe along the top of the subframe and it runs right across then down to the front.. So i would like to know where at the front it goes...

Thinking about this its not the main feed now as pointed out above that goes to the height corrector and that one burst two years ago and i replaced that... Im wondering now if i have pulled the correct pipe up above the subframe and not "crossed piped" as i went along...

Looks like then it is as aerodynamica says its the feed to from the brake valve.

Jim or chris as you both have offered the scan would be wonderfull along with a key if needed...

Much appriciated need to be sure i have the correct or enough pipe length to get her sorted friday or saturday...

Thanks guys.
