Managed to grab an hour last weekend and fitted my "uprated" headlight bulbs into the Full Beams of the Xant. Notice that they have an off pattern almost like the "focus" in directly in front of the car rather than a wide angle. Is this normal?
I am finding the Xant hard to drive on windy country roads in the dark as I can't see into the corners. The uprated bulbs make a difference - will do the dipped beams next.

Re: Xantia Full Beam
mine seems to be similar Eco.. each headlamp can be adjusted outwards, this may spread the beam a bit better
did you do the wiring upgrade as well ?

You need a long allen key through the hols in the top.
The shallow holes do up and down, the deeper end holes do left and right.
Be gentle, often some mechanic pratt has rammed them all the way left or right and rounded the hole.

Re: Xantia Full Beam
with mine, I finally drove up against a wall a couple of months ago, marked where the 2 dipped beams centers fell.. drove back 10m or something, adjusted the lights, and was much happier then with dip.. but- one of the mains was still out..
I am having to manually reseat the bulb to get it somewhere ahead of me.. quite bizarre...

One of my headlamps is the same. Setting the main beams parallel gives a dip beam which irritates oncoming drivers, so I've just accepted lowering it to keep other drivers happy.jgra1 wrote:one of the mains was still out..
I fitted Phillips X-treme Xenon 55w bulbs to the dip lamps which improved light levels to offset my (likely) deteriorating night vision. Fitting a relay in the dip circuit, and upgrading the feed wires, made a noticable difference, but haven't bothered with the main beams, as my night driving virtually all on dip beam.

for dipped beams and sidelights, and then maybe fogs and full beams after...
what do you guys think?
worth it?
i really can not stand having poor lighting, as i drive quite a lot whilst dark outside...

Re: Xantia Full Beam
I've got a S1 Xantia and the lights aren't great. I uprated the lamps to the Nightbreaker ones off eBay and they are much 'cleaner' but not a great deal brighter. I know the problem is the voltage drop. Between the battery and the lamps there is a 2 volt drop. Need to sort this with a new feed and relay. I find the most important thing is keeping the lights clean. Try RainEx. Gets them and keeps them clean.
