Doh Filled My wifes Xantia with petrol

Hi all
Tried to siphon out of filler neck no way, Cogitated and thought fuel pump sender remove and siphon from there ahha eureka, did the job refitted pump sender filled with diesel ah
left a pool on garage forecourt much embarasment. Can only think big green o ring not seated properly is it possible to check somehow without filling to the gunnels with diesel? Will I need a new o ring and if so are they readily obtainable from agent??; also how on earth can the pipes be removed from top of pump to withdraw completely?

I did that once in Tesco's, must have been about two gallons on the floor and it continued to run out all the way home, people were flashing me.

It wasn't a Citroen but a BMW, same principle though. I had just fitted a new fuel pump and hadn't got the large rubber seal around the top of the hole in straight, a lot of fiddling and checking cured it eventually after loosing several gallons of diesel.
