Hi All,
I need to change the Aux drive belt. Does anybody have a home made tool to fit the idler bearing
I know How to change a 1.9 TD 1998 which is the same size of belt but the idler roller bearing is a different design.

Re: Serp Belt tool
I'm assuming here the HDi 90 has the same tensioner as the 110.
In which case you need a 15mm ring spanner, preferably a combination. Put the ring end on the hex in the middle of the tensioner wheel and move the spanner anti-clockwise to release the tension on the belt against the tensioner spring. The spring is strong and it helps enormously to give the 15mm spanner extra leverage by hooking say, a 22mm ring spanner in the open end jaws of the 15mm combination spanner.
You'll see a line of holes on the tensioner boss. use a small long Allen key in one of the holes to keep the tensioner pinned back to keep tension off the belt.
Personally I don't bother to pin back. I use the 15mm/22mm leverage arrangement from underneath and take all tension out whilst popping the belt onto the A/C pulley and then releasing the tensioner slowly.

Re: Serp Belt tool
Thanks for the reply Jim,
Yes, it is HDi 90 and the tensioner is definitely NOT like the 1.9TD, but would appear to be the same belt.
For anybody's info there 2 belt sizes dependent on the A?C compressor make
Sanden Pump 6 ribbed belt 1736
and
Delphi-Harrison Pump 6 ribbed belt 1750
QH belt no's OBR61738 & OBR61750
I had experience of this when doing the old car.
