Hi All,
I have gone to use my C5 Mk I this morning and the battery in the plip is dead. I've tested it and I know why it's dead; because one of the buttons has clipped under the edge of its recess and stayed on thus draining the battery. Of course unlocking with the key allows me to get inside but the car alarms regardless. The better half meanwhile, is doing some voluntary work this morning and has the other key fob. I've been to the local High Street looking for a replacement battery but alas the CR1620 battery is beyond them.
I can't get my hands on my manual at the moment, and apologies if this has been asked before whilst I have done a search to no avail, but can the car be used without the plip? Seems bizarre if I actually have the key that I can't unset, set and reset.
Cheers
Ian

Press the alarm button beside stereo while turning key on - I think that overrides it

Yes, I was able to just insert the key into the ignition and all was well. So I may not have had an alarm when went shopping, but at least I could drive the car and centrally lock it.

I'm fairly sure that our local Asda stores keep the CR1620 along with many other fob batteries.

Thanks myglaren, ebayed them in the end! Our Asda was pretty useless. Sainsbury's not much better.
