please help, i really like my car
I drive a citroen xantia estate (i know) and has various faults (non serious) but recently the rear screen button no longer clicks (whether it works i dont know) and the fans (screen and ones for face and the ones on the side) wont turn on. i really want to keep this car. does anyone know a good effective and fairly cheap way to fix this, i love this car to bits

Re: please help, i really like my car
Sounds like you need to do the relay mod to me
It's a MK1 Xantia with aircon right?
Basically, you're a victim of French electrics, they chose to run the fan's power through the ignition switch despite it potentially taking 30A.
Eventually the switch burns out, only allowing a few volts through.
The fix is to install a relay so that the ignition switch controls the relay, and the 12V that would go through the ignition switch go safely through the relay.
Have a gander at the links in this thread:

Looks like most of the images have died so we'll have to get them refreshed and make a clear single thread to cover the mod.

Xac
Ages ago, for my future reference I collated various posts on the switch/relay mod and 'pirated' Gloggz's photos.
If you care to e-mail me, I'll send you my PDF plus those photos.
