Hi everyone..
Ive had a noise coming from the pulley area on my 406 hdi 110. After doing a bit of research I thought it could be the crankshaft pulley. It only does this noise when engine is cold and once warmed up it stops also the lights flicker around a lot whilst its making the noise and engine revving up and down. Ive recorded the noise and posted it on you tube, heres the links:

noise is also louder when using more electrics
Any help would be great!!
Thanks

Re: Crankshaft Pulley
The crankshaft pulley is a very common cause of a rattle on the HDi.However as your alternator output alters the noise and the lights flicker I would think the auxiliary belt is slipping/juddering due to a faulty tensioner? I`ve known the tensioner pulley to jump up and down on the belt and rattle like a bag of nails.
