Bottom Radiator hose on Off side of Xantia S2

Post by falling-out-with-my-car »

Hi, does anybody know off hand the size of the inside diameter of the bottom radiator hose on the off side of
the xantia S2 please?

in inches would be great but mm's will do then I can convert them.

My purpose to fit a 120 volt water heater inline for the winter.

many thanks Nigel.

Xantia 2.0HDi 90 Estate Dec 2000.

The inside diameter of the straight section behind the road wheel is 28mm, which is a little smaller than either end. Radiator end inside diameter is 30mm and water pump end 35mm.
In case the hose is different for the 1.9TD the outside diameter of the straight section is 37mm.

Hope that helps.
If it can happen it will.

Thanks for that the inside diameter of the straight section will do nicely.
I should think they would be the same as a 1998 TD estate.

Can anyone confirm with a diagram please?

28mm is 1.1026 inches that does seem to be very small for internal diameter of such a large hose.

The Service.Citroen.com site gives the part number of that hose (water outlet) for the 2.0 HDi as 1351ZR.
Unfortunately there do not appear to be any dimensions.

From memory, because I can't find one, the diameter of the thermostat body outlet is little more than an inch.

As suggested try and measure the outside diameter of your hose and allow between 4 and 5mm for each side's the wall thickness.
If it can happen it will.

my diesel xantia thermostat body outlet is miles away from the off side bottom radiator hose that is on the top of the engine
in front of the fuel filter housing. that hose is little more than an inch in diameter. my bottom hose is at least 2.5 inches in diameter externally and runs along the inner wing on the drivers side. I have a feeling the HDi differs quite a bit.

Sorry,

You commented that the water outlet hose was little more than 1 inch in internal diameter and my point was that the flow through he thermostat body which is also part of the water circulation system, passed through an inside diameter which is very similar to that water outlet hose.

Still can't find the spare stat, something makes me think that SWMBO doesn't like car parts left in our living room.

Are you wanting to reduce warm up time by keeping the water temperature warm when parked overnight?

Regards.
