xantia 1.9td BMF 2 shorted

Hi, my xantia 1.9Td vsx (1995) BMF 2(B) shorted.When 40A maxi fuse was installed, the dash board light will ON instantly even no ignition key was inserted.The ON dash lights is same as when ignition key is in Start/motor position.Psl give some advise.Thanks

First thought is the ignition switch itself is shorted. If you remove the column cowling and trace the wiring back from the switch you will find one or two multiplugs, unplug these so the ignition switch is not in effect connected at all.

Now try the fuse again. If it behaves properly (no dash lights etc) then you probably want a new ignition switch assembly. It may be easier to get one from a breakers although get the key as well.

Was not aware of that. The last one I looked at (probably on 309 a few years ago) was or appeared to be one unit, dismantling might of resulted in an excess of brass / copper spring plates falling out. They had already supplied a replacement so I did not look that closely I'll admit at the older one.

I don't think you can buy the switch separately for the older generation of vehicles though. :?:

Not sure probably not as different 'generation' , you may find a later 306 or a Xsara is suitable though.
