Hydraulic Van!

Unread post by ACTIVE8 »

In the details for this H van it states it has hydraulic suspension.

So were these hydraulic ex factory, or is this a conversion, if so does it run on LHM?

Must have been a special and the fact it's on an ambulance makes a lot of sense...

The one time in the memorable past I've been carted off to casualty in a semi-conscious state I would have loved to have been in that H Van rather than whatever it was I was in. Despite my preoccupation with being rather unwell I was only too painfully aware of what atrocious suspension the ambulance had. It was bloody horrific. I don't know what the vehicle was but they forgot to install any springs in the damm thing...

I desperately try not to make a habit of taking rides in ambulances Robert.. Touch wood, I've only;y suffered that trauma twice. Once in 1976 after a road accident and once in 2008 (I think) after .... noooo, I'm to embarrassed to say why...

Sorry to hear about the rides with the medics boneshaker carts.

You would have thought they would give more consideration to the ride quality of their vehicles!

As the first ride took place in 1976 it could well have been in an LDV with a Rover V8 in it!

While the 2008 journey would more than likely have been in the ubiquitous Sprinter.

So by the sound of it, it does "tous" the passengers around.

i agree with Jim on the lack of ride quality, especialy those at Milton Kyenes, i was strugling to keep my self on the bed on route to M/K general from lttle finger off DSM ralley, also i think the driver was thought she was driveing a works ralley car the way she slew/hunge it round every roundabout ern route,

There used to be a woman in the CCC club who would often attend Northern events in here Hydraulic H-Van. It used to be an ambulance and had rear hydraulic suspension, it had been converted into a camper.

I have not seen that van for years and years, actually, it has just flicked to the right picture and that is her, Hazel. I wonder how recet that picture is.
